tomorrow is her funeral and mass is at 2 pm. I am going to try to be there. This will be the very first funeral I am going to attend in a church. I cannot believe this. The only other time I was in church for a funeral was during Auntie Aurea’s funeral. But I was there because I was expected to sing in the choir.

I dreaded the annual visit because by then, he would fetch his parents there. And with the traffic jam, the muddy ground, the crowds and the hillslopes, I would silently question the logic of going to a place just to light candles.
