Sometimes, we humans need a big injection of pain before it jolts us into moving forward, getting better, be kinder or any other positive traits. If not for the long illness and eventual death of my #4 son, I doubt I will be as contented as I am now.

This is what Father Jojo did to us today. No, he didn’t inject us with syringe and needle but he showed the goriest photos from Sri Lanka. There were pregnant women with their unborn babies’ hand jutted out of their raptured abdomen, bloodied scenes and children being killed.

Sri Lanka and it’s problem is not our local media feature. I do read about it on and off on The Herald but like most people, it is just another war. Father Jojo started his talk in the forum in Cathedral of the Holy Spirit by showing these scenes to us.

I could hear a lot gasps. I guess many of the ladies are probably too shocked to even absorb what Father Jojo said later. But I like what Father Jojo tried to tell us. Inspite of all these sufferings, pains and tragedies, there is still hope. And we can be the ambassador of hope. In our own small way.

I was so excited to meet Father Jojo because I have heard about him long time ago. It is one of those things that you heard and hope to see if what others tell you is true.

Father Jojo casually greeted me but I went into engaging him in conversations about blogging, Youtube and technology. I asked his permission if I can video his talk. I was terribly pleased he heard about the Malaysiakini Citizen Journalism course and I told him about our effort in bringing awareness on the plight of the homeless etc etc.

At the end of the forum, with a thick skin, I asked our church photographer to take a photo of me with Father Jojo. That is what you call star struck. He gave me his Youtube account and I hope he will start his own channel on Youtube like the Pope did. Hehehe.
