‘This is one of the frequent mistake many people who are eager to spread the Word did. It is easy for me a new convert to observe it but for those whom had been in Christ for too long may be numbed to the fact.
Instead of showing people the beauty of Christ and the wonders of God’s work this ‘God overdosing’ will turn many away. For example some over eager Christians may rush into counsel someone hurting. Instead of giving a listening ear they may be rattling on and on about resurrection life ever after heaven and at times went far back to Abraham and Job.
I wonder why they cannot see that not just anyone know who Abraham is and what sort of life Job lives? When I lost my son and was grieving over it there were so many Job stories loaded on me. They will tell me that Job lost all his sons. Which I translated as ‘So what? You only lost one son Job lost all of his sons and his properties?’
I do not know about others but to me Christianity is not meant to be shared like that. It means being human being real without needing us to load someone with a person they do not know. We have to accept that not everyone knows God on a personal level. Not everyone understand the lives of Adam to Abraham to Jesus and His apostles. So if we save this sort of preaching and just being normal and talk in a language others understand we will be much more effective in sharing the love of Christ.
I know very well that the apostle Paul had written in one of his epistle that we are to preach in a witty way in a language others understand and not rant on and on like some Pharisees. If I find the verse I will share it next time.’
