A lot of forums and websites love to paint a bad picture of Christians. It is nothing new. Nothing they say can raise my eyebrows anymore.

However, I have something to say to these folks. Though I wouldn’t waste my time arguing with them on their sites, I wish to put it on my own site just for kicks.

One of the usual ‘weapon’ they use is to bring some verses from the Old Testaments and ‘prove’ that Christians are reading a Bible filled with smut and all those stuffs. They just enjoy highlighting those parts where people did all the unthinkable acts like father-in-law sleeping with the daughter-in-law, leaders (like King David) stealing another man’s wife etc etc. I am sure in their own holy books, some of these people mentioned in the Old Testament are there too.

The Bible illustrates all these because we are all humans, created by God, defaced by Adam and Eve. In the Bible, there are actions and repercussions. In the Bible, there are punishments and rewards.

And though our Bible has all these instances of all the wrong doings of our previous ancestors…. we have something else. We have Christ. Christ who is perfect. Christ who is the Son of God. Our Christian God who is an awesome God.

We Christians aren’t perfect but at least we are trying hard to be Christ like. We failed sometimes. We shine sometimes. We have the second chance when God made Himself Man and came to earth to be united with us. We have the second chance when Jesus died, resurrected and sent us His Holy Spirit to guide us. That’s why we Christians admit we are all sinners. But we are given the second chance of a baptism, of starting on a clean slate. And even if we failed, we still can go back to this forgiving, loving and One True God.

And you know what? I don’t need to make a comparative study of other religions to bring them down. I only need to turn to myself and let the Holy Spirit guide me. I believe those people who enjoy highlighting how bad other faiths are would benefit from spending those times they used to dig dirt from other people holy books, to just spend time with their own god for guidance.

  1. Based on interpretation, you won’t even sure if what’re reading in the church is historical or faith account. You’re just as conveniently selective as those you accused in this post.

For those faithful, you still have a long way to prove the so called scripture actually holds water.
