Never in a million years can I imagine that I will one day need to pray in Bahasa Indonesia or rather my own version of Bahasa Malaysia. Who can imagine that I, who do not even know how to do the cross or say the Lord’s Prayer six years ago, will be doing that, impromptu six years down the line? No script, no preparation, no Bahasa Malaysia Bible to refer. But I guess one of my favourite Bible verse ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me’ hasn’t turn into hot air only.
Maybe my words do not come out as fluently as I want them to but I guess Jesus hears, whether it is in Bahasa Indonesia, messed up Bahasa Malaysia or any language. What matter is the people who asked me to pray with them knows what I am trying to say. And God knows what we have in mind even before we open our mouth.
I am going to polish the prayer, using verses from the Alkitab, type them out here and hopefully, the doa makes more sense.
“Yesus, Datanglah bersama kami
kerana Kau berkata kepada kami,
seandainya terdapat dua atau tiga di antara kami
meminta sesuatu, Kau akan berada bersama kami

18:19 Dan lagi Aku berkata kepadamu: Jika dua orang dari padamu di dunia ini sepakat meminta apapun juga, permintaan mereka itu akan dikabulkan oleh Bapa-Ku yang di sorga.
18:20 Sebab di mana dua atau tiga orang berkumpul dalam Nama-Ku, di situ Aku ada di tengah-tengah mereka.”
Jadi Yesus, hari ini kami berdoa
semoga Kau memberkati kami,
meringankan beban dan kesusahan yang dihadapi oleh
(name of patient) dan juga keluarganya
mengurangkan kesakitan dan penyakit (patient)
Berilah ketabahan kepada (name of patient’s wife)
menghadapi segala masalah
Yesus, semoga doa kami ini diberkati Tuhan
