I wonder why I have not been writing much on this blog? Maybe my faith is getting weak? Maybe I am bored being ‘church-ie’? Maybe I am not inspired? Maybe I am like that, hangat-hangat tahi ayam, flash in the pan? Or rather I prefer to shut my mouth in the midst of all the stupidities shown by all the quarters? It is better to just curse silently, pray fervently and hope blindly for some changes soon.
It looks like I won’t be updating for several days because work is piling up. It is almost the end of the month and I have to rush out all my posts before 30th. Then, I got to finish the duty roster. Yikes, I didn’t know that doing a roster is this tough. I used to do a lot of roster-ing in school and at work. But in a community, it is so much different because everyone gets to say when and how they want it and I have to juggle to please everyone. Never mind, have faith in the Lord and I probably won’t screw up the readings and the dates. *keeps finger crossed*
Tomorrow, Monday 29th means I will be going grocery shopping with ‘the ladies’ and we are going to get all the food ingredients we need. Then, Tuesday 30th, I will be checking in to Stella Maris for a night stay because we are going to be at College General from afternoon onwards to prepare the foods. At night, we are supposed to co-ordinate the dinner for the arriving priests. After that, we will go back to Stella Maris to sleep.
On Wednesday, 1st October we are supposed to wake up really, really early, like 4+ am! to prepare breakfast for around 250 pax. I shall treat this as a once in a lifetime blessing to do something really out of the ordinary. The lady who roped me in is going away for a holiday in South Africa but nevertheless, I am blessed to be asked by her to help in the food committee.
So, 1st October is going to be like a 24/7 full day work of preparing the breakfast, then rush back to Stella Maris to bath and get ready for mass at 10am. After that, we have to oversee a buffet lunch for 800 pax. If you think that’s all, we also have to make sure tea is ready. And at night, we need to organise the grand dinner. I think by midnight, I would be flat out.
The next morning, we may need to see to the breakfast again. However, I probably do not need to do that as we are only staying at Stella Maris for one night.
So, give thanks to the Lord for giving me the opportunity to see so many Archibishops, Bishops, priests and even the CM of Penang, all in one location. And praise the Lord for entrusting me to cook! Whoopee! This is one story that I will probably tell my grandkids and great grandkids over and over and over and over again, one day. “There was this one time when grandma was much younger and grandma cooked 300 eggs for the Catholic church. And no one get the toilet run! *touch wood*”
Now, I must pray that everything goes smoothly. I am so excited but I have no time to feel excited yet because I must finish my work first or else, I won’t have money next month. So, till then, stay faithful to God and listen out for His Word.
