The Home Minister today said they will act against those who incite hatred on the Net. Well, it is not like we haven’t heard of it before.
So, how about doing something more visible like telling us what have happened to the journalist and his friend who went into two Catholic churches? I know my fellow parishioners have lodge the police report. Yet, it has been several weeks and there aren’t any news about it.
PETALING JAYA: Those who use the cyberspace to incite hatred or insult any race or religion or the monarchy, will soon find it increasingly difficult to hide behind the ‘mouse’.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said: “If we allow it to go unchecked, the attack on these pillars may jeopardise the safety of all Malaysians. It will then be too late if we act after a clash.
“We are not clamping or censoring the Internet. But when it comes to issues involving race, religion and our royalty, the Internet cannot be allowed to go on to de-stabilise the country and do whatever they like,” he said.
It is not like we demand for the heads of them. It is not like we threaten to burn their houses or something. We just want to see some real action being taken because the case is a big issue. No doubt we Catholics tend to be rather tolerant, it doesn’t mean that we are totally dead.
Talking about being tolerant, I sometimes wonder if that is a peaceful act or just a ‘let’s not mess up’ or ‘rile up the big people’ choice of dealing with the matter. I seem to think it is the latter. That’s what I sometimes cannot stand. No one wants to be actually doing it. In the name of peace, someone will try to evade taking the nastier stance. There is always the ‘our religion is a religion of peace’ so we cannot resort to any sort of demand.
Yeah…rite……just be doormats. And then, take the saviour stand that they are like Jesus. We are not. We are just being cowards. Praying will not get us anywhere. Legal suits, open protests and louder demands will at least send the signal that it is not ok to walk into a Catholic church, put something into their mouth and made a story out of it. Hey, is that thing even halal? Hmm…have you ever thought of that?
Blek, I am just so sick of how the ‘world is dealt with in my community’.
