My eldest sister once remarked, “Those Christian women seem to stay young and slow to grow old.” My eldest sister is in her late fifties. Out of the three of us sisters, she is the one who primps the most. Even now, she is very meticulous with what she wears and etcs. She is not a Christian but she likes to keep up to the latest fashion and matching clothes and properly combed hair etc.

So, after she said that, I do observe if what she said is true. And indeed, it is. There are many women who are in their sixties and even seventies who are still very active in church. They are serving in various ministries and many of them are very cheerful and warm.

I am lucky a few of them took me under their ’sifu-ship’ and teach me many things. They are like the mother I no longer have. They talk to me about dealing with children, about faith, about church and other things.

I have read that when we are in the Lord, we will be filled with a lot of joy and that will keep us happy and fulfilled all the time. So, I don’t know if I am going to remain young just like those wonderful ladies in my church.

However, I do know that I do have plenty of things to get my mind working. It is the middle of March and I am now busy preparing the duty roster for the lectors. Then, I got to arrange with my cooking team to prepare foods two weeks from now. After that, I am going to concentrate on maintaining website for some organisation.

My weekends will be filled with choir practices, parenting session with Martin Jalleh, catechism classes, learning to be effective faith sharer in the CCC and other spiritual related matters. With all these activities, my days are far more meaningful than being totally glued to watching TV and doing nothing, which are probably what I will be doing if I do not have other community works to do.

So, yeah, Christian women who are busy serving the Lord and His ministries are probably too busy to remember to grow old. So, praise you, Lord! Hallelujah!
