I attended my nephew’s wedding at the Katong Presbyterian Church in Singapore. It is a beautiful wedding, full of meaning. In fact, church weddings are pretty serious stuffs. In my opinion, it is even much more meaningful than Chinese traditional, Taoist/Buddhist style of wedding because one makes vows that last a lifetime.

The reading for the wedding is from Collosians chapter 3, verse 12-17. I have taken a macro shot of the Holy Bible. My nephew was recently baptised but all his family members are not Christians. I prayed that the reading will touch them and may the Holy Spirit ministers to them.

They have the Holy Bible in the pews along with hymns and also other books like jokes and inspirational stuffs. Frankly, I am very impressed with the set up of the church because the place is cosy, equipped with nice musical instruments, sound systems and etc. If I am not mistaken, the Presbyterian is of the Protestant denomination? (can’t be too sure, need to study a bit more) and hence, their order is completely different from my Catholic church. My little boy asked me, “Mommy, why is Jesus missing from the cross?” LOL.

My little boy enjoyed himself tremendously there because they have a lovely glass (sound proof) room for children to play during the wedding ceremony. Lots of nice toys and story books. Hmmm…very unlike the ‘little vegie’ we have.

Initially, I thought they have the communion but apparently, they don’t. I had asked my church priest and I was told that Catholics can join their communion (and the pastor there told me I can too). However, other denominations normally do not join the Catholics communion because Catholics believe in the real presences of the Body and Blood of Christ. *oh well, it is one of ‘those things’*

I have not attended many weddings in church before. In fact, LOL, this is the second time I attended. The first time, I attended some rich doctor’s daughter’s wedding in my church was as a choir singer. I didn’t go there as a guest but to ‘work’. So, this is only the second time I attended a church wedding. This is because I always skipped church weddings as they are awfully boring. LOL. But I just discovered it is a very serious ceremony where the bride and groom pledge to stick together, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.

After the wedding, I joked with my sons that they better get Catholic girlfriends next time so that I can make a glam wedding for them in church next time. Right down to the colour coordinated flowers and ribbons. Otherwise, I wonder if I can bribe the priests to carry out weddings in church for my sons and their non-Catholic wife-to-be? LOL. All I want is a wedding in church! My sons retorted, “In that case, ma, why don’t you get married in church then?” Oh I will, if I can. LOL. My mission is to con my hubby to convert to a Catholic and I was told we need to have a wedding ceremony. Bwahahaha….I hope it is not my funeral that comes first.
