This is one of the most soothing and comforting verse from the Bible. Long before I know Christianity, I know this verse because I found it at a lot of places. Since I wasn’t a Christian and have no idea what Christianity is, I did wonder why Jesus Christ asked people to do nothing but rest in the green meadows. My son, Vincent was born at the Adventist Hospital and hence, there are verses like these all over the hospital wall.

Then, there is the Psalm 23 dark valley and cup runneth over verse that I heard a lot. Again, not having a basic Christian education, those verses puzzled me a lot.

Now, come to think of it, all those things I see, read or hear do leave some imprints in my mind. Though at that time I do not understand nor care to know what it means, it still gives me a message that it is relaxing to be a Christian. How can it not be when Christians do nothing but rest in green meadows, eat and drink from spilling cups and Jesus promised to carry all the burdens?

I have a lot of things to do these few days. The weather is so hot. We have to make trips in the hot sun to fetch this child, that child, from college to kindie, school to sports practice and a lot more. If I am not a Christian, I think I will drown in self pity with the number of errands and family responsibilities I have to attend to. But with a Big Boss like Jesus who assured me that He will handle it all for His flocks, I can just muddle through somehow.

It is only a few weeks to Chinese New Year and I am busy baking cookies. Not for Chinese New Year but rather, for my blog. It is killing two birds with one stone. My children get to eat the experimental cookies I bake, my blog gets update with new recipes. I get lots of visits because people are cutting costs and do not buy, but rather bake their own cookies. And in return, I get more money for the month. See? Jesus is a multi-tasking Big Boss who knows I see silver linings in every thing. With Him, I shall rest in the green meadows always. Nothing is too much work because there is always something good in return.
