Courage

“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Jesus said this to His apostles in John chapter 14: 27.
And with that, I felt a burden lifted off my shoulder. I had spent the day troubled over an issue. It was such a big issue to me because it was very hard to make a decision. I was torn between doing the safe thing and doing the brave thing. Being safe means I close my eyes and pretend things do not exist. But the heart tugs and the conscience tells me that it is not me to just pretend.
So, I took that step and go ahead and do what I think is right. I took a deep breath, walked towards where I should be going. And that poster stared back at me. It is then I know I am doing something right.
Though the whole scene gave me a big headache, loss of appetite and plenty of worries, I do not feel afraid or hesitant.

Now, the rest of the situation is in God’s hand. I pray that the Lord will sent the saviours to see that things are put right. I am glad that I had gone there with no malice, no anger, no revenge, no intention whatsover. It takes a while, several hours in fact, to examine my conscience.
Even when everything is over and done with, I still wonder if I had done something right. There is always the danger of using God as an excuse to do what we want to do. But when I got to church and heard the Gospel, peace descended on me.
