To me, religion is not some anal retentive, must do or die lesson in life. One has to have the faith before one acquires the knowledge. So, when I teach my children matters related to the Christian faith, I go down to their level and discover the Bible with them.

Sometimes, we watch some movies, sometimes children bible and just a while ago, we went through some non-official Lego site to learn about Christianity. From Genesis to Revelation.

So, there was this part when my 12 years old son told me about Acts and the segment was called Bored to Death. He told me, “Ma….which part of the Bible says about Bored to Death?”

I told him, “You are kidding me, where got Gospel about Bored to Death?”

He quoted to me Acts Chapter 20. True enough, there is :

Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. 8There were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were meeting. 9Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. 10Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!” 11Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left.

So, the two of us were laughing at how comical it was. We were practically laughing our arses off, rolling on the bed, slapping selfs and laugh somemore.

I know the point is to show that St. Paul can perform miracle. But son and I said sometimes, our priests too gave homilies that make us about to fall asleep and fell off the pew.

Moreover, isn’t it so funny how Paul saved the young man and then, nonchalantly walked upstairs, eat and continue babbling till the next morning?

Oh dear, I hope our Bishops and priests do not harbour that secret ambition of killing someone with their homilies and then, hope to perform a miracle in front of the congregation? Muahahahar….
