I believe God has a plan for each of us and if we place our trust in Him, we may not steer too far off the path. However, I only come to this realisation many decades too late. If I could turn back time, I think I will have less heartaches, heartbreaks and turmoils of failed relationships if I had left the choices in God’s hands.
In our hearts, there is this little voice which we refer as gut instinct or conscience. That is God’s way of tugging at our heartstrings. If we have listened more to it, I think we wouldn’t end up wasting time with partners who are not suitable for us. But often, we refused and place our desires ahead of that nagging feelings. I spent four years with a guy and was already part of his family. I have so much fun with his family because it was a close knit one and I got along very well with his brothers. My heart told me that he is not what I want as a future partner but I refused to acknowledge that and keep sticking to the relationship because I love the family togetherness that I don’t have in my own home.
Anyway, God is great and I found a husband right after we broke off. Well, we are married for close to twenty years with five kids. Now, the only thing I pray for is for my husband to embrace Christ as well. All my children were baptised with me four years ago.
