Lately, I have been ‘lazy’ in doing ‘god-ly’ things like reading the Bible, finding out about Christianity and just being ‘regular’ and not very ‘hardworking’. In fact, I bought the Shalom which is daily Bible reading guide but have not even open the page eventhough it is already the middle of the month.

I suppose all of us go through such phases. That’s why I am going for a course on psychology and spirituality tomorrow. I was told that Father Ignatius Huan is great with lecturing and I am looking forward to ’study’ in a formal environment.

Meantime, I am enjoying my days taking photos of mother nature. I went for a walk and took a bunch of photos. Of the skies, the earth, river, animals and flowers. It is a good to go for walks alone (but not entirely alone because I am afraid of getting robbed by the monkeys and humans). Times when I am just walking and opening my eyes to look for subjects to shoot is a time when I feel closer to God.

I would stare at how intricate the canon ball flower is and I marveled at the amount of work the Creator has put into making this pinkish flower that looks a bit like corals under the sea. How each petal falls apart when the flower has bloomed and die.

These fallen petals remind us of our own mortality. How we too will die, go back to the grounds and yet, generations of people still live. It is kind of silly to weave a story between wilted flowers and human beings but when I was staring at those pretty pink flowers, the thoughts just go churning in my mind. How nice if I can just whipped out a notebook (and that means a computer, not a crappy 555 notebook because my hands get tired writing) and start to type out what I think at that moment.

What’s amazing is no matter where I go, even if it is to the Botanical Gardens near my house, I seem to enjoy nature when I have a camera with me. My eyes opened wider because I do not want to miss a single butterfly, flower or even cobwebs. I love going out to take photos but sometimes, when life gets too complicated, I forgot about this very therapeutic activity. *makes mental note to use the DSLR more often*

One Response to “Giving Father God a break, finding Mother Nature instead”

  1. Hi Lilian,

I guess most of us have gone through what you have. We are only human. God sees our hearts, and not by our activities for Him. But from what I can see, you have a wonderful gift from God. Not many of us realised that God is all around us through his creation. And you have captured it with your eyes and heart through the lenses. Just enjoy the wonderful gifts that He has put upon you. And be bless by the “teaching” by Father Ignatius.
