Anil Netto posted about the warning from the Home Ministry to The Herald. Otherwise, I will probably missed out the little column. Above is the photo I took from The Herald issue July 20th 2008.
We are certainly living in a very paranoid environment. First, they want us to stop using the term Allah eventhough Allah is used in the Alkitab which is the Bahasa Melayu Bible. Next, they want to dictate to us what to publish in a PRIVATE circulation weekly newsletters meant for Catholics.
Such news always make me wonder if we are living in an oppressed country? I hope Catholics are not going to just keep quiet about it? In January 2008, I had written a post on how Politics and Faith intertwined.
When we make our stand, we are sure to face with a lot of challenges like how Muslims questioned me. But ultimately, we cannot just keep giving in and be apologetic over this matter.
So, yeah, I will continue to reflect on the Bahasa Malaysia Bible and continue to pray that wisdom will prevail. Right now, The Herald can no longer use the term Allah in their publication. And will we see a time when our Bible too has to stop using the term Allah? Remember that this term has been in used since the 1700 in High Malay Bible.
I feel violated. I don’t know about others. But I am sure Christ will want us to be patient and let this matter be dealt with according to the law. (which again, I am doubtful what law will apply)
I was rather pissed earlier and this came as a reminder to me to be patient. Taken from Surat Paulus kepada Jemaah di Roma. Chapter 14:10-12. Do I need to remind that the below is the Alkitab verses?
“Mengapa kamu yang lain menghina saudara kamu? Kita semua akan menghadap Allah untuk diadili. Di dalam Alkitab bertulis,
“Sesungguhnya,” firman Tuhan,
tiap-tiap orang akan sujud
di hadapan-Ku
dan tiap-tiap orang akan mengaku
bahawa Aku Allah.”Oleh itu, kita masing-masing harus mempertanggungjawabkan segala perbuatan kita kepada Allah.
