I was contemplating whether to make the trip to Singapore this morning because passports renewal alone will cost RM1,200. The trip is quite costly but I feel it is only right that we make the trip because my other relatives cannot make it. So, I turned to the Bible and these verses sort of give me the courage to close my eyes and spend the money.
Let me put the Bahasa Melayu Bible, the Al-Kitab verse of Matthew 6.
A lot of coincidences happened and we got to my sister’s area to renew road tax. I was about to tell her that we are going to cancel the trip. My heart wants to go because I know as an aunt, I am going to be so proud to see my nephew getting married in church. It is not often we get family members embracing Christ and hence, it is a triple joyous occasion as far as I am concerned.
When I called her, she and my bro-in-law were already getting stuffs FOR my family for the trip. So, I see it as a prompting that we should just forget about the cost of fuel, toll and passport fees and instead, focus on being with the family. My sister even dug out a three piece suit for my little boy for the wedding. He may be the ring bearer and ‘door opener’.
So, we confirmed it and get our things arranged. Much later in the day, my second son came to the kitchen and he also quoted the same verse from Matthew! He said something like, “Do not worry for Your Father in Heaven will provide….” Well, of course it is just his cunning way of getting us to Singapore so that he can buy that much desired pair of sneakers. Still, it is beautiful that both of us have these verses in our mind on the same day. Trust in God to provide.
Now, you may wonder what I wanted to rant? I wanted to rant about this relative who is an insurance salesman. His sibling’s spouse died and there is an amount of insurance claim. This bugger wants to borrow part of the insurance claim money from the widow to sort out his own debts! This same chap had borrowed over RM10K from my hubby. He lives lavishly as far as we can see. He had borrowed from all the other siblings whom live frugal lives, work laboriously and have very little permanent income to fall back to.
I wish God will sort him out once and for all. I won’t play the nice Christian to pray for him because I am not a saint. I will just pray that he will stop asking for money from all of us. I hope that if he is in the same position as the sibling’s spouse, he will not leave only debts for his family but a big fat insurance claim to settle all his debts. Bah!
My only comfort is my hubby has put his foot down and will not lend him anymore money. Otherwise, he knows he will incur my wraths because while my children and I have to ponder hard over our spendings, his own relative is living in big condo, driving big car and living posh life with OUR money.
So, you see, there is a huge difference between a person who trust God to provide and the person who doesn’t care about any gods, whether a stone, a brass or the Almighty God. We live in peace. He lives with fears, worries and God knows what else of burdens.

That’s the verse I am trying to find a few days ago. It always helps to calm me. That verse reminds me that God is always with us.
