I like the homily from Father FA. Usually, I find his homily very uplifting because he speaks with conviction. The nice thing about being a new convert is how each Bible reading comes across to me as something new and something I have never really read before.
Today is about this seven brothers who were tortured and killed one by one because their rulers forced upon them to eat pork. They were forbidden to do so and they would rather die than submit to what their rulers want. It is a good reminder to us and also something to evoke our own thoughts. How much are we willing to sacrifice for the faith?
Then, during the Gospel reading, it is about this widow with seven husbands who died. In the olden law, when a woman’s husband died, the brother is suppose to marry the widow. Of course, the story is just to illustrate the situation. This woman married all seven brothers who all died. So, the people asked when she goes to heaven, which will be her husband? Well, I shall leave you with this question. Find out from the Bible yourself.
