Many of the people I know went to Convent schools and they have been given a foundation of the Catholic faith. They probably had been through cathecism classes as children. Hence, teaching their children about the Catholic faith is probably as easy as teaching them how to tie shoelaces or braid their pony tails.

However, for someone like me, I am as blur as my little boy about a lot of things. Just now, I took out a small booklet on prayers and there are some illustrations on family praying together. By now, it is not easy to rope in my teens and tweens to do such ‘Christian-y stuffs’ because we have been seasoned not to pray this way. And let’s forget about my hubby, at least not for another decade.

Anyway, I really admire families who tell me that they have family prayers before bed time. Oh wow, such perfect home. I won’t even dare to dream of such. But never mind, if I can start with at least one child, I still have hope.

So, my little boy and I looked that photos of family postulating by the bedside to worship and the two of us got down on our knees to ‘learn how to pray like them’. It is really a very beautiful sight to see my little boy in earnest prayers. He will go something like, “Lord Jesus, give me lots of Ben 10 toys, I want heatblast, I want bla bla bla’.

Then, I reminded him that he must also pray for those little children who have no money and no mommies. After that, I asked him if he wants to pray for anyone else.

He said, “Hah, I know!”

And he prayed, “Lord Jesus, I pray for Father Henry to get a car.”

So cute! Father Henry is our parish priest. He does have a car but I wonder why my little boy wants him to have a car? Maybe he sees ‘poor’ Father Henry around the church all the time?

I asked him, “You are praying for only Father Henry? What about the other priests? Do you know their names?”

He told me, “I know Father FA but one more new Father I don’t know his name.”

Sigh…I least expect him to remember the priests’ names because he doesn’t tag along to church with me that often. The reason? He dislike going for little vegie. That’s how he pronounce the Children Liturgy.

I have made a date with him to go for Little Vegie this Saturday and hopes he will. For a little boy of five who remembers the names of Father Henry, Father FA and Father Fabian (yes, he has remembered the name), I think I am not doing so bad as a mommy, huh?
