Now I know why I need to read the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia

Sometimes, when we live in our little cocooned world, we do not know what lies beyond the cosy, little environment. But if we listen to that little voice in our heart, the one which many call instinct, we will explore a bigger world.

About a month ago, I suddenly have the urge to know God’s Word in Bahasa Malaysia. I do not know why, other than the reason to find out how Allah is referred in the AlKitab.

I have got that part cleared. I know through my own reflections that the term Allah is only used when there is a need for it and reference is made to the highest level. In the AlKitab, God is referred as Tuhan, Bapa and Allah at different times.

Now, I discover why my heart has that stirrings to learn Christianity in Bahasa Malaysia. It is meant for me to have a better conversation with Indonesians who are from the Christian faith. I have met so many Christians from Indonesia and being able to talk about Yesus in a language they understand is so comforting to them and to me.

When I am asked to say prayers, I can blab through in Bahasa Malaysia. Note that I do not talk about religion unless the other party openly tell me they believe in Yesus. And when they openly tell me they are Christians, I will comfortably mention about Roh Kudus and how Roh Kudus sentiasa berada di sisi kita. I can pray, “Yesus ada bersabda, sekiranya dua atau tiga berdoa bersama-sama, Yesus akan berada bersama kita…Jadi Yesus kasihini lah kami dan semoga mengambil segala beban dan kesakitan yang dihadapi oleh (name). Berilah dia kententeraman di hati, ketabahan dan kesihatan. Amin.”

So, thank God I have the vision to seek God’s Word in Bahasa Malaysia or else I would get tongue tied when asked to pray. Maybe I should print out the Lord’s Prayer in Bahasa Malaysia and start to memorise it because I normally end prayers with the English version. And arrggh…sometimes, I forget the words. *slaps self*
