Hi Lilian, you say you are Catholic but sometimes when you write on faith, it seems you have the Holy Spirit in you though at times very Catholic like having protection card from temple in pocket and can't discern that's a no no as far as Jesus i concern :)
I mean Catholics are supposed to be like Karen, having absolutely no discernment what is of God and what is not -refer her above comment 30/8). Obviously the spirit of God is with you not because you are Catholic but because he knows your heart loves Him.
I hope one day you will be reborn. Only then, your spiritual eyes will be opened and Jesus will be as real as the person next to you and you can hear Him speak to your heart thru the Holy Spirit and you will know and know what is approved/disapproved of God without a shadow of doubt
an most importantly, you will be able to give precise details on why yoga should not be practised.

You are right, yoga is not of God. I can't explain here why (unless you move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and know about spiritual warfare) but I will say people who do yoga do invite a "different" spirit into their lives.

So when you touch on things that is not of the spirit of God (like yoga), you are obviously going to get a lot of heat from people with that spirit. It would be smart not to fall into satan's trap to get you to lose your cool and use language like he and his demons do - niamah, cilaka and the sorts. Each time we don't, we claim victory for our Lord Jesus. And each time we do, we represent jesus in a bad light (no condemnation here, just sharing about jesus). We also shouldn't be mad at those comments cause a person that does not have the spirit of jesus in him just cannot comprehend what the fuss is all about. The only reason I explain all these to you is bacause as I read your blog, you are confused by the Christian faith's foundation BUT YET you are very sure of jesus and I can just feel thru your writings that God is tugging your heart and mind all the time to know Him deeper and you are very submissive to His call.Iif not, I would never write this , not because I couldn't care less but a person without jesus in them will never get it.

Calling oneself a Christian does not make one a Christian (ref kevin 29th). A Christian does/does not do things according to what Jesus commanded, not according to what the priest or pastor or leader or other Christians say you can and cannot do.

Lilian, you read Philip Yancey? But he's Protestant and Protestants writers are like taboo to the Catholics aren't they? I mean I've heard Catholics tell my friends their faith (the protestants) is low class, their bibles are rubbish (Btw, anyone know what's the difference? I don't) and they say they hate protestants cause we evangelise.

Forgive me for any words wrongly put. truly, I just wanted to share on why so much flak(e) from our yoga friends, not putting anyone down. Peace.

David - I have covered the bases, making it clear that it is no one's business what I said 'cos I approach it as a former Taoist and deal with it as a Catholic. Yet, these people still got irked by it. I wonder if they are irked by my reasonings, which are strictly for my own observation or is there a force that grates on their conscience.

And LOL at your last sentence.

You know hor, I once read a book by Philip Yancey. He said we do not need to meditate because our God comes down to us to give us peace whilst another faith (dare not say Buddhists hehehe) have to meditate to achieve peace.

**Disclaimer again : What I said is between David C and I, so the rest got no excuse to get mad, ok?

Of all comments that I read, I find the one from Mathew Alex quite interesting yet surprising. And thus, I am replying only to Mathew Alex here. No offense to friends of other faiths.

Meditation on what? Christianity teaches meditation on the Word of God. And, Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. He can give us the peace that surpasses all understandings if we give thanks to Him (Philippians 4:6-7). Can Yoga do so?

Yes, we should be respectful with our brothers of different faith. So much so that we need to wear the Gospel of peace on our feet, and show a good example to everyone. Learning Yoga no doubt help your body, but how about your soul and spirit? How about your relationship with God and His people?

Btw, Jesus not only taught us to "embrace & engage with all our brothers of differing faiths". Jesus also taught us to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that He commanded us" (Matthew 28:19-20). God also taught us to be still and know He is God (Psalm 46:10). God did not teach us to be still while practising Yoga, and forget about ourselves and everything including Him.
