Oh wow…now I am a liberal Catholic?
by lilian ~ May 14th, 2008
Here I am, trying to make sense of things over this Allah issues.
And I stumbled upon this Catholic blogger who puts up photos of other faiths and put the title NOT GOD, GOD, NOT GOD, GOD……
I mean, we are not alone on this planet, dude. Why must you make things so explicit, like using other faiths’ symbols of faith and insisted they are not god? And I thought Menj is ‘amazing’ enough….
And why do we have to argue if the Islam God and the Christian God is one of the same or are they different Gods? You seriously think we can get any good out of this? The only thing I see is bloodshed, hatred and all the negative things.
To further make my jaw drops and mindfarked, these are some of the comments :
it’s not surprising given that a certain local priest of a very well-known order prefers to focus his homilies on social justice issues. Those of you in KL will know who I’m referring to, but I don’t think he’s the only one with such tendencies. I wouldn’t be surprised if Anil Netto comes from that parish too.
and which the blog owner replied :
I don’t suppose that particular priest comes from Orange County? Social justice is important, I admit that. The Prophets Hosea and Amos are very strong on this and so is the Catholic Church. But this must not totally cloud over the Christian witness nor reduce Christ to a social liberator.
.....post continues after advertisement
The capital O and C was put in Italic. Which means a church in KL with OC. Now…I wonder if they realise they are GOSSIPING? And not just about anyone but a priest. But no…these are very pious Catholics so I won’t dare to accuse them, lest they banish me to hell.
And here is a comment from someone whom I think I know…..
BTW of late many of our local Catholics, claiming to be liberals (I wonder if they [know] the meaning of term) are busy shooting of letters to the Herald without much thought to what they are writing.
And I have to say ‘ouch’ because this is a church elder I am talking about. So, bad me. I am all for social justice, humanity, helping the poor, doing stuffs that help humans, God’s creation. And I do have very easy going attitude towards how we want to worship. I will never ever put any religion down just so that I can claim my God is the only one and true God.
So, sorry my brothers in Christ, I totally cannot understand why some of us Catholics have to express our love for Jesus Christ in such ‘magnificient’ way. Christ certainly did not do it that way when He was on earth. He has never gone up to the mountains and yell, “Hey, look here, I am the Son of God.” From the many examples shown in the Bible, He was being discreet. I think we Catholics too have to be discreet when the situation calls for it. Whatever you put online, will be seen by other faiths. And people may not accept that and cause hostility towards the whole church. Is it worth it to do so? Don’t you want to spread Jesus message of love one another as I have loved you and also to love your enemies? Do you think putting down other people’s symbol of faith reflects this?
I am utterly shocked. I will now go back to my little shell and be a liberal Catholic. So sue me. Nyek, nyek, nyek, Liberal Catholic. L C. See? That’s my initial.
(I won’t put the link of the blog mentioned but you can just copy part of the comment, put it in the search box and Google. And please don’t mention my name, I need to go and worship in peace, not being stared at as a LC.)

You are right. If anything, there should be tolerance amongst other religions for it is with people insisting that their religion is the right one which causes so much pain and war in the world. Religion, no matter which faith, should and must always be practiced peacefully.

Buddhist here. I consider myself a neutral one. As long as you behave like a human, that’s ok with me. I don’t think there is any difference in any belief in term of guiding us to be a better human being. So don’t worry, just do what you think is right.

God does not need men to defend Him. He just wishes men be as loving to one another just like Him.
