Today, I was at the top most building in College General. It is the museum and I was right there. It is amazing how few months ago, I was sitting at Mount Miriam wards and wondering what’s inside this building.
Back then, I know nothing about College General and all I did was to admire how old the building is, what is the canon doing there and who goes in there.
Today, I have Father Edwin to explain to Rudy and I a brief history of College General. The place came alive with young men from France, Vietnam, Korea, Burma converging in Penang to study to be Catholic priests.
We found an old magazine dated 1964, the year I was born and on the cover was Father FA! He was so young and I couldn’t have guessed it is him, even if you offer me a million ringgit. It was fun to look at those old photos and guess which priest is my parish priest and so on. We also saw a photo of Bishop Antony when he was very young.
However, I have a tinge of sadness that I am not going back to Mount Miriam to sit down with the patients and talking about the big building with canon. But then, I suppose those are paths we passed through and if God wills it, who knows, I may actually sit for the CPE in Assunta and get a proper pastoral care certificate. Or I may not, whatever.
Hmmm..on the other hand, I also wonder why God puts in my path so many things related to the priesthood? Is He hinting something? My sons are going to sweat….’Ma, stop dreaming…’
