I don’t know what got me into this big word - THEOLOGY. But daunting as it sounds, I think I would be able to tackle it.

It started with a conversation with Sr. C.A. one breezy, sunny morning on the rooftop in Mt. Miriam. She told me that part of the requirements of the CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) is the student must sit for a year course in theology. She then gave me the Theology DIY contact in Mumbai, India.

Since it is going to be a one year course, I decided to take it eventhough I am not sure if I am still going to pursue the CPE. Anyway, I got nothing to lose except the few thousands Indian Rupees.

Heh, 2,000 India Rupees is only RM166. The course comes in several parts but I am not sure how much it is going to cost me in total. Anyway, what’s 2,000 rupees, right?

Then, before I confirmed taking theology for the laity, I asked FF. He told me “Lilian, whatever you are writing now (on my blog including my personal blog) is part of theology. You already have the awareness.”

I reconfirmed with him that I am not expected to memorise any historical facts or the long list of Jesus ascendants or babble the Bible verses accurately. I am not going to sit for some mind-numbing course that curb my mind. FF knows what I mean because I told him that I cannot accept ‘It is a mystery’ or ‘Human minds cannot conceive’ explanations when people cannot explain ‘God stuffs’.

The thing with religion is when you are more aware, you get more inquisitive. And unless we have some knowledge based on facts, whatever faiths we have will turn into myths.

So, I finally posted my bank draft to Mumbai and I will be doing theology! OMG, what have I got myself into? Bah…I will survive.

  1. What is the end-product of that course?… Diploma in Theology?
Sounds interesting. How to go abt it? Any pre-req such as Latin?
    Where to get further info?

Some 30 yrs ago I wanted to take the Bachelor of Divinity External Degree from London University. The pre-req was Latin. So I gave up.

Four years ago, I took a Free Bible Correspondence from a Church in Port Klang and graduated with 4 certificates…interesting course.

Please don’t ask me to quote authority. I could only remember that:- Women cannot teach men (Tim 1:11)…

So I asked my instructor who was a woman how come she was teaching me???… this is not a bit unfair and bias towards women meh???
