My youngest boy has funny ways to say his night prayers. He will ask for a long list of things for the poor children. Poor children, in his definition are those images of homeless children and those living in poor conditions. Tonight, the list includes :
Lots of snow for the children to play with; (because he saw photos of some malnourished, African children living under the hot sun, with flies on them)
Clean the world for them; (what he meant is to clean off the mud when the snow melt because I told when snow melts, the ground becomes muddy)
Lots of Megablocks for the children to play with; (‘Cos he knows Megablocks are much cheaper than Lego so God doesn’t have to pay so much.)
Lots of nice foods for them;
Got mommies for them.
And then, he concluded his prayers with Amen!
So, I asked him, “How about papa and all of us?”
He went, “Oh ya, Lord Jesus please give my papa a mega TV, big big one to put on the wall like a cinema. (because hubby was watching Man U on TV)
Then, he paused again and asked us what we want. So cute…..
My #3 son then teased him, “God can bankrupt with so many things to buy for so many people.”
That made my little boy frowned and he asked me, “Mommy, God no more money, then how?”
So, I told him, “Next day already, God sure gets new money. Just like our Facebook game, Pet Society. Every new day, we get new money (in play gold coins). So, God always have plenty of money to give to people to help the poor.”
However, I remind him that all the toys and big big TV are not so important as having someone to take care of all the children and love them. I told him as long as everyone is healthy and happy, it is already very good and we must thank God for that.
Sometimes, it takes a little, innocent child to show us the priorities in life. Otherwise, we too have our own long lists of things to ask from God without realizing that the most important of all is to treasure the people around us.

Reminds me of Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
=P the kids are cute la.

At the end of the day it is the people around us whom we love and who loves us that matters most.
The parenting tips on your other blog is sensible and a lot of common sense. You seem to post it at the moments when I am lost as to what to do. Y’know like Synchronicity in Father Ignatius’ Carl Jung lectures.
Thanks.
