These few days, I have a sudden interest to read the Bible in King James Version. The first Bible I bought was the King James Version because it was bound in leather and it is cheap. Mostly because it is the cheapest.
I remembered I bought it from MPH in Midvalley. At that time, my son was warded in the Paediatric ICU in UMMC and I needed to desperately rely on some religious book before I go crazy. So, I bought a Bible. However, I was a little confused with the KJV English because it is old English and the structure of the sentences were totally mind boggling.
32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Now, I am more familiar with Jesus’s words and I love the ‘verily, I say unto you’ part. It sounds so ancient and so solemn.
Anyway, yesterday at Sunday mass, I found the part :
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
These verses have been most comforting. A lot of my inner doubts and restlessness have been lifted off when I hear the Word of God.
