Tomorrow, January 20th is the dedication of our Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Well, it is the 5th anniversary of our Cathedral.
I was on duty to take care of the OHP today and something struck me. Father Henry asked one question ‘Where are you?’ when he talked about faith. He asked the parishioners if they are concentrating and have their spirit in church when celebrating mass or is their mind somewhere else.
As I was on duty, I had to pay full attention as I am suppose to change the slides when Father Henry prompted me. So, I have to listen and focus my view on Father. Otherwise, I suppose the question will also made me blush as my mind will probably drifted off elsewhere.
I notice that when times are all rosy and dandy, I tend to be less religious. I will still celebrate mass but without the same deep concentration compared to when I have some troubles. When I have some burdens, that’s when I have my heart and soul in mass, paying full attention to the lectors, the cantors and the priest. That’s when every words touch a chord in my heart. Sometimes, those words uplifted me, sometimes they made me cry and sometimes, I walked out like I have found the light.
The next time you are in church, ask yourself, Where are you? Listening to God’s Word or planning what to have for dinner/breakfast or lunch.
