He has some of the wisest opinions. I like his open mind towards faiths and he has been seen participating in Muslim Maulidur Rasul celebration, my Catholic church Good Friday prayers and yesterday, at the Buddhist Wesak Day celebration.

During Good Friday, I volunteered to help my multimedia ministry leader to handle the OHP (or I wouldn’t have gone to church). So, when I arrived early in church, I was told that the CM is coming to join our station of the cross and mass. Oh wow, I was so excited about it when I was told. (you can download the .pdf file of The Herald on the CM’s visit to Cathedral of the Holy Spirit)

It is not like I haven’t seen him before but rather, the thought of a politician who is not afraid to show that he has faith in God joining us in prayers make it so joyous. Frankly speaking, I have not seen many non-Muslims political leaders who profess their faith to the Almighty. (it doesn’t matter which Divine Being they worship but at least show us they do rely on the Unseen Force) The only time I see is when these politicians make their celebrity appearances with a sombre or happy face to fit the occasion. You know…just like a live statue to make the news?

But our Penang CM is one great guy who has wisdom. It does not matter if he is Christian (which he is) or what ever faith he wish to profess. It is the wisdom that comes from him that I admire a lot.

PENANG:In the fight against evil, it is not enough to merely practise good moral values but it is also important to stop others from doing bad deeds whenever possible and lead them back to the right path, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

“When we talk about fighting evil and wanting to create a more moral and cultured society, we must take initiative to prevent others from doing evil whenever we can,” he said at the opening of the Wesak Day celebrations at the Malaysian Buddhist Association (MBA) on Burmah Road here yesterday.

The above quotes from him sort of seal my belief that we shouldn’t just keep turning the other cheek or be the meek lambs all the time. Many Christians have that attitude of following the ‘turning the other cheek’ mantra and insist that one has to be meek to get things done because that’s what Jesus did. The only result is a lot of doormats - weakened, trampled and ineffective. Bwahaha.

I believe that we have to push forward with our God given skills and God guided wisdom, whatever that is, and get His Kingdom built. Just yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet up with a priest in Our Lady of Sorrows. Well, he taught us during RCIA in 2003 and I am glad he still remembers who I was (the one who had a long story in the papers). I didn’t know he has ‘graduated’ to be a priest. My bad for not keeping up with The Herald and bulletin news.

So, I chatted with him about the challenges we faced in the cyberworld, the impact it has on the youths and general stuffs as he is rather young and tech savvy. He told me he works mostly with USM students and we touched on some politics.

It was only after we finished talking, I asked him when he is going to be a priest. He told me he is already. Ooops, Father Dominic, and not Brother Dominic anymore. Praise the Lord.

I believe if more and more individuals, country leaders and religious leaders move forward with times, we will have much better understanding of our respective faiths and not be shackled by mere teachings which can hamper our growth and also the spread of the Good News.
